Le plus grand rendez-vous de la gaudriole de la planète (voir plus loin) se tient à Montréal depuis 1983. Initié par l’homme d’affaires Gilbert Rozon, le festival Juste pour rire propose des spectacles d’humour en salles, des théâtres de rue, des projections de films humoristiques, des émissions de télévision et 
des tournées en région.
Juste pour rire fête aujourd’hui son 25e anniversaire. Au cours des ans, Montréal a vu passer les plus grands humoristes, qui se sont déplacés des quatre coins du monde : Stéphane Rousseau ; les Justiciers masqués ; RBO ; Staline ; Rowan Atkinson ; etc.
Invité à la dernière émission de Tout le monde en parle, Gilbert Rozon se remémorait les débuts du festival. Il avait à l’époque contacté des investisseurs à New York. Souhaitant angliciser son nom, il l’avait changé en “Rozen”. À sa grande surprise, il arrivait à contacter directement les présidents de grandes sociétés. Ce n’est qu’après coût qu’il comprit que sa transformation lui avait donné les bonnes grâces de la communauté juive, très active dans la cité de la grande pomme.
En plus d’un musée dédié, Juste pour rire produit des spectacles et des vidéos. En voyageant sur Air Canada, et d’autres compagnies, vous aurez l’occasion de voir les farces de la compagnie montréalaise. Cette dernière a également le mandat de distribution des célèbres Têtes à claques.
Le rire est contagieux au Canada. Après la version nantaise du festival Juste pour rire, Gilbert Rozon exporte son concept chez les maudits voisins torontois (Just for Laughs). Mais au pays, d’autres initiatives animent nos belles soirées d’été, comme le Grand Rire qui se produit à Sherbrooke, Québec, Gatineau et Ottawa.
Le Québec a définitivement beaucoup d’humour. Ce n’est pas André Boisclair qui pourrait le démentir. Sa courte apparition dans la version québécoise de Broke Back Mountain restera dans les annales de la vie politique de la belle province.
