Depuis vendredi, le dollar canadien est en passe de détrôner son homologue du sud. À 91,94 cents américains, la devise canadienne s’est hissée à son plus haut depuis ses trente dernières années. En 5 ans, la monnaie du Canada s’est appréciée de près de 49 % par rapport au billet vert.

Excellente question.. on vivait très bien avec notre monnaie moins forte par rapport à celle des Américains mais nous devrons nous trouver, bientôt, plus de partenaires d’affaires dispercés à travers la planète car nos voisins ne pourront plus supporter la grosse partie de notre écnomie à cause de notre dollars fort.

Il y a une interdépendance assez intéressante entre le Canada et les USA. Le dollar en fait partie.
Le Canada est le 1er fournisseur de pétrole des États-Unis. Dans le même temps, les États sont les premières débouchées commerciales du Canada. Une parité des deux dollars permettrait peut-être de simplifier les échanges.

Moi je pense qu’aux alentours de 75 sous c’était parfait. 3/4 de la valeur du USD permettait aux touristes de profiter d’un assez bon taux de change pour aller chez les américains alors qu’en contre partie, c’était assez profitable pour les américains d’investir au canada et d’importer les produits québecois comme le bois d’oeuvre et le textile.
Cependant depuis que le dollar canadien a franchi les 85 sous, l’industrie du textile, du bois et des pâtes et papier souffre. Les américains ne sont plus intéressé à importer les produits canadiens, préférant encourager leur produit pour la différence minime du prix.
Les plus puristes diront “On a pas besoin des américains pour vendre nos produits, on va exporter ailleurs”. La réalité est tout autre. Il n’en demeure pas loin que les U.S.A sont nos plus proche voisins et le plus grand importateur de produits canadien.
De nombreuses usines textiles sont maintenant fermées au profit du cheap labor de la chine. Ce n’était qu’une question de temps me direz-vous? Eh bien allez le dire à la centaine ou aux milliers de travailleurs qui ont perdu leur emploi et qui ne savent rien faire d’autre qu’opérer une machine à coudre. Ils auraient bien volontier accepté un autre surcit de 5 an.
Donc y’a du bon à avoir un dollar fort mais y’a également beaucou d’inconvénients. Présentement je crois que les inconvénients viennent ternir les avantages et c’est pourquoi je pense qu’à 75 sous c’était parfait
A mettre en paralléle avec la montée incessante de l’€ depuis les 6 derniers mois : idéal pour aller se balader sur la 5ème avenue mais paas vraiment pour booster le sinvestissements US en France.
@Mike: C’est exact. L’Europe est également handicapée dans ses exportations. Mais, il faut prendre en compte la forte consonance politique que le dollar canadien n’a pas.
Le rôle de l’euro est d’être une monnaie de référence à l’international, pour contrebalancer le pouvoir du billet vert. La mission est pour une part réussie. De plus en plus de pays, en Asie et au Moyen-Orient, passent aujourd’hui leur commande en euro.
Yep et de plus en plus de traders jouent également sur l’€ gagnant alors qu’ils n’osaient le faire que sur le dollars. De mon côté, c’est mieux encore puisque je vis en Amérique centrale mais travaille, via internet, pour des clients européens qui me paient en €. BANCO !

Perso, je ne chiale aucunement et suis même plutôt heureux puisque vivant au Mexique [le peso mexicain est plus ou moins indexé sur les mouvements d'humeurs de son grand frère du nord] mais je suis payé en € par de clients à qui j’envoie mes factures uniquement après avoir consulté les cours des devises.
J’ai jamais chialé non plus. C’est certain qu’on faisait la grimace quand on allait faire un tour de l’autre bord de la frontière quand venait le temps de changer notre argent en devise US. Sauf qu’on avait le choix de pas y aller.
Le problème avec le dollar Canadien fort, c’est que plusieurs industries ferment, et ça… y l’ont pas le choix!! Vous l’avez vu dernièrement, plusieurs emplois perdus et usine fermées dans la transformation du bois. Vous pensez vraiment que c’est une coincidence?
J’aimerais également ajouter une précision, le dollar canadien est stable, c’est le dollar US qui plonge par rapport aux autre devises à cause de l’engrenage déficitaire de la guerre dans laquelle Bush les a entrainés.

@DanTheMan: tu as raison, le dollar américain baisse, mais le canadien est quand même en bonne progression depuis ces derniers mois.
Ce n’est pas tellement un choix mais c’est certes une bonne chose quand tu peux payer tes achats courants dans une monnaie plutôt faible et être payé dans une devise plutôt forte ! Maintenant, l’€ subit d’importantes variations et ” le jeu ” est souvent de savoir quand se faire payer et quand acheter.
