Les vacances de la construction sont une tradition vieille de 36 ans au Québec. Durant les deux dernières semaines de juillet, les chantiers de la province sont fermés pour permettre au travailleur du secteur des bâtiments et travaux publics de partir en période de repos. Mais, cette période représente plus largement les vacances officielles du Québec.
Cette année, ces congés obligatoires ont été accompagnés d’un chèque de 225 M$. Deux fois par an, la Commission de la construction du Québec fait parvenir les indemnités qui précèdent ces vacances. Moins connues, les vacances d’hiver de la construction se tiennent durant les fêtes de fin d’année.
Cette année, ce seront 128 000 Québécois qui se retrouveront sur les routes. Comme le rappel la Sûreté du Québec, la prudence est de mise au volant. La précédente édition avait été endeuillée par 17 morts et 1 092 blessés graves. Afin de limiter les accidents, les uniformes policiers devraient être encore plus présents ces jours-ci sur les bords des chemins du Québec.
Les départs en congés se font également sentir sur la toile. Les articles sont moins nombreux et les visites moins fréquentes. Les blogueurs prennent le goût du farniente, et ce n’est pas si mal, car il y a une vie après l’écran et le clavier
