“Mon ego va bien, merci !” pourrait être la conclusion de la dernière rencontre de blogueurs montréalais. Sérieusement, si les blogueurs ne sont pas tous obnubilés par leurs statistiques, la majorité apprécie d’avoir de la grande visite.
Que nous admettions ou non notre ego classement, un carnet Web est un investissement. Il représente de nombreuses heures et journées passées à rédiger, paramétrer et optimiser. Le but n’est pas de rechercher le plus grand nombre possible de lecteurs, mais de rechercher les bons lecteurs.
Mais qu’est-ce qu’un bon lecteur ? D’un côté, il peut-être actif, par la rédaction de commentaires ou l’envoie de rétroliens. Comme le souligne pragmatiquement Éric Baillargeon, pour les biz blogueurs l’important est d’avoir des appels téléphoniques 
en provenance de bons clients. Les affaires sont les affaires !
Pour couper court à toute polémique, il faudrait peut-être utiliser la stratégie du journaliste Michel Dumais qui consiste à se cacher des moteurs de recherche grâce à quelques petits mots bien placés : User-agent: * Disallow: /. Mais, ne serait-ce pas comme éditer un journal qui ne serait vendu que sous son lit ?

Laurent, comme d’habitude, t’as fait une bonne job. Et c’est vrai que c’est bon de t’entendre, même si tu te caches…
Finalement, on dirait que les différents types de blogue sont de plus en plus distincts. Genre, ceux qui bloguent dans le cadre de leur travail, ceux qui bloguent pour communiquer avec un groupe d’amis, ceux qui bloguent juste pour écrire, ceux qui veulent des conversations avec des gens précis, etc.
Même si Jean-Luc dit que c’est de la BS quand on dit qu’on se préoccupe pas de notre classement, on dirait que notre égo a plus ou moins d’importance par rapport au classement dépendamment de ce qu’on veut faire.
Personnellement, je suis pas du genre à compétitionner. Bin d’accord avec Debbie là-dessus, ça m’intéresse pas trop de me comparer. En fait, je me suis inscrit à Top Blogues à un moment donné et après avoir rencontré un blogueur qui s’intéressait à mon classement (je l’avais dépassé, une journée), j’ai arrêté de m’intéresser à ça.
L’affaire, c’est qu’il faut pas confondre curiosité et recherche de gloire. Bloguer, pour beaucoup de monde, c’est juste une façon d’essayer des choses sans s’en faire pour les conséquences.
D’un autre côté, François touche un point important. À chaque fois que je me fait contacter par des producteurs de radio ou des journalistes, je suis assez content. Pas par comparaison aux autres, mais parce que c’est une façon d’entrer en conversation avec plus de monde.
